Set Up Scanning Stations to Enable Access to Facilities

This is a PerfectMind Enterprise feature.

Connect dedicated scanning stations and devices to a facility. Then manage access to your facilities by using the Check-In app when you scan barcoded passes.

This article shows you how to:

Access Scanning Station Settings

Each computer workstation should have only one dedicated scanning device:

  1. At the top right, hover over your name and click Settings.
  2. In the sidebar, click Stations.

Create or Edit Station Settings

After accessing the Stations page, set up unique workstations for your scanning devices:


  1. Click an existing station to edit it, or click New to create one.
  2. Enter a unique station name.
  3. For Type, select Barcode Scanner. (The other option is Payment Terminal.)
  4. Enter the station's IP address.
  5. Select the Location, if applicable.
  6. Select the Scanning Function:
    • Access — Grant access to a facility only.
    • Access and Attendance — Grant access to a facility and take attendance at an event.
  1. Click Save.


Add a Device to a Station

After creating a station, you can link a device to it:

  1. In the list, click the station name.
  2. Under Devices, click New.


  1. Enter a unique device name.
  2. For Type, select Barcode Scanner. (The other option is Payment Terminal.)
  3. Enter the device's IP Address.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Click Initialize.


Your computer station will begin an electronic communication with your device which will display rapid messages such as “Sending…Receiving…Processing…” while the initialization is in progress.

Link a Station to a Facility

For workstations that are associated with one facility, you can identify the station profile with the facility profile:

  1. At the top right of the calendar, click the gear icon.
  2. Select Manage Facilities.
  3. Select a facility profile.
  4. Select the station in the Stations lookup field.
  5. Click Save.


Identify a Station in the Check-In App

Stations are listed in the Check-In app:

  1. Hover over Schedule and click Check-In.
  2. At the top right, select a station from the Station Selector.
  3. Start scanning.
